April 30 Business and Economic Centre hosted Tax and Customs Legislative Group next meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the MPs on the set of vague clauses in the Tax Code of Georgia. Experts Emzar Jgerenaia and Kakha Kokhreidze made a presentation on these issues.
The role of the Business and Economic Centre is “to develop effective and systemic linkages between the Parliament and the wide range of economic operators. The way this cooperation is organised ensures a transparency and integrity of the process… As recent global financial turmoil has clearly demonstrated, it becomes imperative for the policy-makers and legislators to understand business realities. An immense responsibility and pressure is put on the Parliament to come up with legislative solutions for highly complex economic issues in the way which takes into account the interests and concerns of the wide range of groups in society. The contribution of BEC is indeed important as… it offers Members of Parliament an exposure to key issues confronting business and the economy. I have given a patronage to this initiative and believe that the Parliament of Georgia will actively utilise this significant parliamentary resource.
