April 6, with the initiative of partnership for road safety foundation Business and Economic Centre (BEC) hosted a meeting discussing the project “Georgia alliance for safe roads” and two sub-projects: “Youth road safety education” and “Seat belt promotion in Georgia”. During the meeting participants were also presented the survey results about the car accidents based on the statistic data provided by hospitals and insurance companies.The meeting was attended by the first lady of Georgia, Sandra Elisabeth Roelofs; Vise-speakers of the parliament, Rusudan Kervalishvili and Gigi Tsereteli; Head of the Healthcare and social issues committee, Otar Toidze; Deputy chairman of budget and finance committee, Guram Chakhvadze; representatives of different ministries and insurance companies.
MPs support the idea of using seat belts in cities, expressed their readiness to work on this issue and proceed with the legislative initiative.
