Presentation of Green Business Support Strategy
On October 25, Business and Economic Centre hosted the environmental protection working group meeting, which was organized in the frame of the climate Week in Georgia. Aim of the meeting was to present the Green Business Support Strategy for Georgian Private Business Organizations to the Parliament.

The meeting was attended by the Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, representatives of the ministry of economy and sustainable development of Georgia and ministry of energy and natural recourses of Georgia, non-governmental and business organizations.  

The “green economy” is quite broad and at the same time new concept for Georgia which means and includes sustainable development and poverty alleviation mechanisms. During the meeting participants discussed green business opportunities for the country. Experts also focused on the issues which are not covered by Georgian legislation and explained that the improvement of regulations will ensure the effective implementation of this strategy.

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to the analysis of the situation on the river Duruji, in Kakheti.  Experts described the problem which occurred on the river Duriji after mudflow, that caused the material removal from the mountains. The way-out from this situation is to clean the area of the river from this material and use it for production of high -quality construction materials and creation of art production.

At the end of the meeting, participants decided to dedicate the special meeting and be analyzed the situation on the river Duruji and Parliament’s anti crises council will be more involved in this discussions.
