March 5, 2010 Business and Economic Centre and Association “Peaceful and Business Caucasus” held a conference with the assistance of Temporary Commission on Territorial Integrity Issues held a representative conference on “The Dialogue between the Government of Georgia and Non-State Actors on confidence building with Abkhazian and Ossetian sides”.

The representatives of the Parliament and Government of Georgia, relevant ministries and the National Security Council, chief NGOs, business associations and independent experts took part in the conference.

The conference presented the reports elaborated by the BEC-formulated work groups for the past year. The reports concerned the settlement of movement of people through administrative borders, opportunities of economic and humanitarian partnership between the conflicting sides and the analysis of Caucasian realities in terms of the conflict zones of Georgia.

The second part of the conference was completely devoted to the National Strategy of the Government of Georgia with regard to the occupied territories. The conference also focused on the execution opportunities of the action plan of the document and the function of the mass media in terms of coverage of the conflict issues.

It was pointed out that similar meeting formats should be used to intensify the coordination between the Government and NGOs. This will contribute to an efficient dialogue between the Government and civil sector and the execution of the action plan elaborated on the basis of the National Strategy.
